ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTS FOR PRIVATE HIRE DRIVERS

Transport for London (TFL) has announced that all new applicants, and existing private hire drivers applying to renew their licence for the first time since the introduction of this new requirement, must now meet the equivalent of a B1 English language requirement.

We strongly advise you, before taking the Trinity College B1 (ISE 1) exam, to take a course to familiarise yourself with the techniques required for this exam.

  • 18 minutes:

Results and Certificates

Certificates take about 15 working days (approx 3 weeks)

RESULTS FOR THIS B1 (ISE 1) TEST

  • You will receive your certificate if you passed BOTH parts of the test and
  • A diagnostic report for each skill showing how you performed in the exam

What do CEFR, SELT AND ISE mean?

  • CEFR = Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • SELT = Secure English Language Test
  • ISE = Integrated Skills in English
  • TfL = Transport for London
